  • Medicinal Uses:

    • In India, the root has been used for the treatment of snake and scorpion bites, insect stings, and epilepsy.

    • It is also used as a vermifuge and for the treatment of colic, diarrhoea, dysentery, cholera, dysmenorrhea, fever, and to facilitate childbirth.

    • Reserpine, an alkaloid found in the plant was widely used clinically as antihypertensive agent.
