Characteristic features:

Habit : It is a large evergreen tree. Trees with milky latex.

Leaves :broadly ovate, shortly acuminate at apex , glabrous;  petioles long , slender.

Flowers : small, star-shaped, yellowish white in colour, with a crown rising from the centre .Sepals ovate, tomentose. Corolla tube very short; lobes linear - oblong . Berry ovoid , yellow or orange-red , 1- seeded. It is a ornamental tree because it provides a dense shade and during the months from March to July fills the night air with the sweet aroma of its tiny cream coloured flowers. In the morning the fragrant flowers scent their surroundings with their deep, rich, fragrance.  At the evening hours, they fall to the ground. Fruits are eaten fresh. The timber is used for building purposes.

Medicinal uses:  It is used in the treatment and maintenance of oral hygiene. It also prevents bad breath and helps to keep the gums healthy.
