• In Unani it is utilized as a expectorant, vasodilator, vulnerary, anti-helminthic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, blood purifier and detergent.

• Its most common use is as a condiment and a household remedy for intermittent fevers, flatulence and dyspepsia.
